Pool Safety CPR Signs

Pool CPR Signs don't need to be gaudy colours and bad fonts - who knew! After tonnes of research, including reaching out to local councils in other states, our signs have been given the tick of approval.

To cover off compliance Australia-wide, the main tests for Pool Safety CPR signs are:

→ Must be easily read from a distance of 3 metres.
Our signs have large font sizes, and colours with a contrast background for maximum readability.

→  A minimum size of 300x300mm.
Our signs are 400x720mm and are intentionally larger than old-school signs signs so they meet vision accessibility standards, ahead of current compliance requirements so when the rules are updated - you wont need to update your sign. We also made them larger so the colour pops with your other outdoor styling choices, but that's for the styling nerds (like us!) and not a compliance requirement.

→ The CPR technique is up to date.
Signs need to comply with ‘ANZCOR guideline 8 – cardiopulmonary resuscitation' instructions, which is D-R-S-A-B-C-D - and include the steps for both adults and infants.

Holidae Haus Pool Safety CPR Signs are printed on 7 year high-performance vinyl designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, making it ideal for humid or sun-exposed pool areas. It offers excellent colour vibrancy and strong adhesion, ensuring the print remains crisp and vibrant over time.

We then add a SECOND layer of laminate, which gives the sign an extra layer of UV protection, scratch resistance, and a smooth, high-gloss finish that elevates the overall look. This combination not only protects against fading, moisture, and chemical exposure but also makes the surface easier to clean, maintaining a fresh, polished appearance for years. In short - the vinyl manufacturer says 7 years, but we think you'll probably move house before these bad-boys will need replacing.

We've chosen 3mm aluminium panel as the base for our Pool Safety CPR Signs because of it's durability edge over other materials. Aluminium is strong yet lightweight, so it holds its shape perfectly without bowing or warping, even in extreme weather. It’s won’t crack, swell, or fade like some plastics can over time. The rigid structure also means it’s less prone to damage during installation making it ideal for long-term outdoor use in high-exposure areas like pool zones.

We did look at acrylic and a few other plastic derivatives, but found the lack of durability didn't align with our brand values of long-lasting, quality products. Plastics are sharp at first but becomes dry and brittle under sun exposure. Over time they form a brownish discolouration or start to 'craze' (fine, hairline cracks - like the grout lines of crazy pave!), and are more likely to crack if exposed to temperature shifts. For durability, stability, and a professional finish, aluminium panel was the more reliable choice.

By law, your CPR sign must:

• Must be clearly and conspicuously displayed in the immediate vicinity of the pool area.
• The sign must be attached to a fixed structure, such as the pool fence, and not placed on movable objects like a gate or furniture.
• Be easily visible from any position within the pool area.
• It must not be obstructed by plants, furniture, or decor.

Other things to think about:

• Hang your pool CPR sign closest to where you might retrieve a person from the pool to perform CPR. The sign may be best placed near the shallow end of the pool or near the steps.
• Should be easily read from a distance of 3 metres. You need to be able to see the instructions from where you're giving CPR.

To attach your CPR sign on a glass pool fence, choose ‘suction cups’ as the installation option at checkout and follow these steps:

1. Clean the glass: Wipe the surface thoroughly with glass cleaner or soapy water, then dry it completely.
   
2. Attach suction cups: Insert the suction cups through the pre-drilled holes in the sign and fasten them securely.
   
3. Mount the sign: Position the sign where you want it and press the suction cups firmly onto the glass until they hold in place.
   
4. Level and adjust: Use a spirit level to check the alignment and make any small adjustments as needed.

To attach your pool CPR sign to a wall or metal fence, choose ‘standoffs’ as the installation option at checkout.

Your mount package comes complete with Wall Plugs, Stainless Steel Screws, and Standoff Sets. For a flawless setup, we recommend using a 6.5mm drill bit for metal. A Philips head screwdriver will probably be sufficient for softer wood fencing.

Here's how to mount your products like a pro:

1. Position your Holidae Haus Pool CPR Sign product where you would like it to hang, make sure it's level, and mark the centre of the holes onto the surface using a pencil.
2. Drill holes on these marks, then push each wall anchor into its hole until it is flush with the wall.
3. Thread the Screw through the Standoff Barrel and screw into the wall anchor/wall using a 6mm drill bit. Do this for all Standoff Barrels.
4. Lay the sign on top of the barrels and line up the holes. Make sure you have a washer sandwiched between the Standoff Barrel and the back of the sign.
5. Thread the second washer through the Standoff Screw and secure the Standoff Cap to the Standoff Barrel, so the sign is sandwiched between the two.
